The topic today is to validate your probable impression of adulthood which is “the struggle is real”.
It is so real.
But not to worry. Why? Because there are shows like this one and others that talk about it and share ideas and information to help take the fear and discomfort out of adulting.
My guest today is Justin Peters who is the host of the podcast The Struggle Is Real. He is 27. He has questions. He has doubts. He has insecurities.
But rather than let that slow him down, he created this great show for his peers to discuss and learn about how to handle these real-world situations that aren’t taught in school.
He and I had a great conversation about this from our different perspectives as I am a bit further along than he on the journey. By the way, even though you have lived some years, there are always new situations to face and overcome.
As long as you are living, you are learning and growing and evolving. Hopefully!
Justin is thoughtful and inquisitive, and that curiosity is lighting the path for his generation and others to become empowered and informed.
Justin mentions some information that is relevant to his generation and I am happy to report that I have done shows on some of those topics.
Episode 3 insurance; Episode 19 digital minimalism, Episode 20 the importance of sleep, episode 25 intuition and trusting your gut, Episode 29 leadership, and I just did one on personal accountability and that was episode 45. I also have at least 5 shows on finances.
And Justin brought up the Mominars on my YouTube channel.
A Mominar is a seminar given by a mom but they are only 5-minute seminars on a specific basic life skill. It is patient and encouraging instruction that you can watch as many times as you need. Like how to pay your bills, and how to write a resume. He mentioned those specifically. They are there for you!

ABOUT JUSTIN PETERS
Justin is a midwest boy who found his way to Austin, TX. He has always had an interest in how humans work, particularly the brain. Although the science is fascinating, he is more interested in the practical.
How does understanding all of this allow us to get what we want: a fulfilling career, a meaningful relationship, financial independence, long-lasting health, and wellbeing?
To explore just that, he started a podcast called, The Struggle is Real. He interviews guests to learn about a myriad of topics and invites others to join him in the journey.
In school, he had to memorize the periodic table, read Shakespeare, and learn how to find the limit of an equation (the limit does not exist).
But now, being in the “real world”, he is realizing he is not as prepared as he thought. Where were the classes like Intro to Filing Your Taxes, Healthy Carbs 101, or History of Making Friends and Being Social?
This is a show for those who don’t know what the heck they’re doing but want to start figuring it out. Each conversation discusses a problem that young professionals will face throughout their 20s that wasn’t covered in the classroom.
Together we’ll figure out this whole adulting thing.
