HTL 018: How to Make a Budget and Get Out of Debt, with Jason Hoschouer

Make a Budget and Get Out of Debt

This podcast is a huge topic! And by huge I mean it is sooooo important.

This conversation is all about debt, how being in debt enslaves you, and how it is 100% possible to turn it around in a surprisingly short time.

All you have to do is simply deciding to get control of it, creating a budget, and staying focused and disciplined.

It is NOT hard friends. It just requires organization and persistence!

I am joined by the very warm and entertaining, Jason Hoschouer, who wears many hats: husband, father, author, blogger, podcast host, police officer, but his passion these days is on being a personal financial coach.

He shares his story of how, once upon a time, he was almost $78K in debt. But he got out!

In this interview he tells you how he did it, talks about the 5 STEPS you need to take to achieve it yourself (there are only 5), and he wants you to know that you absolutely can do it too!

ABOUT JASON HOSCHOUER

Also known as Motorcop or “MC”, Jason has spent nearly 10 years as a blogger and podcast host of The Crossover Show which has now become What’s Your Emergency.

His personal blog, The MotorCop Mindset, is focused primarily on health/wellness and personal development. Topics include physical, financial, and mental well-being. He has long been a fan of personal development.

Jason has been a police officer since graduating the Academy in 1999, and has worked in a custody setting for nearly five years, in patrol for two years, and as a motor officer for the last ten years.

He has also been a financial coach since 2013 after attending Dave Ramsey’s Financial Coaching Master Series. After he and his wife became debt free in 2011, Jason wanted to do more, so he created his financial coaching business and started coaching clients one-on-one.

He created his Budgeting 101 course to serve a broader audience simultaneously instead of being required to be present (physically or virtually) for that many people. In conjunction with the course, he also wrote Badges and Budgets on the subject of getting control of one’s finances.

Jason has been married to his wife, Katie, since January 2005 and they have four daughters (one being their Italian exchange student, Chiara) and two dogs. They live in the San Francisco Bay Area (for the time being…retirement, she doth loom close).
