Balancing Emotions is not always easy to do.

It is tempting to ignore them, but emotions are extremely important to us. They are a compass, an indicator, of how close we are to being aligned with our true selves.

Emotions are often thought to work against us, but the opposite is actually true.

Our true self, the best version of ourselves, is a happy, light-hearted, optimistic lover of life and lover of self. That is how we were born and it is who we truly are at our core.

But there are events, experiences, and conditioning in our lives that cause us to notice and feel the unwanted, pain, or distress.

There are many justifications as to why we ignore the emotions that are signaling us or why we act out because of them. But this misdirected and misguided way of dealing with emotion works against us in the long run.

This interview today will focus on the fact that we ALL have emotions, they are there to inform us of where we are in relation to our optimal self, and therefore a good thing!

Let’s learn how to honor our emotions, manage them, and take control of our own happiness. Only you can that for you. No one else can.

ABOUT TAYLA HADLEY, M.Ed CPC LCADC

Tayla is a Clinical Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and has been providing therapy for over six years. She completed both her Bachelor of Psychology and a Master of Education degrees at UNLV.

Tayla specializes in treating adults with addiction and teens struggling with emotional regulation.

Tayla has worked in the mental health field for over ten years with children, adolescents, and adults. Tayla’s therapeutic model includes a combination of Rapid Resolution Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and emotional regulation skills utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Additionally, Tayla is certified to provide Equine Assisted psychotherapy using the EAGALA model. Tayla experienced the therapeutic benefits of a close working relationship with horses while packing mules through the Sierra Nevada’s along the John Muir and Pacific Crest Trail.  It was this unique time in her life that led her to the path of seeking a partnership with horse for therapeutic purposes.

Tayla has lived in Henderson since the age of 16 and is proud to call Nevada HOME.

She is passionate about mental health, play-based programming for children, and exploring the great outdoors on foot, bike, or horseback.
