HTL 015: How To Approach the Police: What to Do and Say, with Lt. Steve Riback, LVMPD

How To Approach The Police

Most people are law-abiding citizens and don’t expect to have an encounter with the police. But sometimes you will find that you are in a situation where you have to interact with them.

This podcast topic came about because a listener was pulled over once for a moving violation and she was a nervous wreck and didn’t know what to do.

Others chimed in that although they had never been pulled over, they also wanted to know what to do.

That was a GREAT question and it led to even more questions about etiquette and proper protocol in a variety of situations.

I am grateful that Lt. Steve Riback of the LVMPD graciously accepted my invitation to answer these questions and more.

He also talks about how being a police officer is a high-tension job and one that requires the officer to be alert at all times for any potential threat.

This is such a good podcast that will help you gain some perspective from the officer’s point of view and teach you what you can do to help the police do their job and keep both the officers and yourself safe.
